Job Title: Assistant A. D. of Athletic Communications

Department of Athletics

Job Summary: This position reports to the Athletic Director and is a member of the Athletic Department senior management team. The Assistant AD for Athletic Communications administers the Athletic Department's Athletics Communications Office to include supervision and evaluation of Marketing and Promotions, New Media, Broadcasting, Athletic Communications (including Video Production), Branding and Licensing, and Statistical Collection and Dissemination.

The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications is responsible for implementing a comprehensive external relations plan incorporating promotions and athletic communications. Goals include increasing media attention and coverage and attendance at home events, creation and organization of promotional campaigns, assistance in coordination and management of game day/event operations, and an increase in community engagement via New Media, branding and licensing and through successful media relations across all platforms.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strategic vision for the day-to-day external operations of a high paced athletic department looking to grow in an exciting Daytona Beach market. Must possess demonstrated success in cultivation of relationships and promotional opportunities, have knowledge of marketing and athletic communications/digital media; understand branding and licensing operations and the impact of revenue generation through various platforms through the use of analytics to track the effectiveness of all promotional and social media campaigns. Must have managerial experience in external operations. Initiative, exceptional verbal and written communication skills and superior interpersonal skills are required. Must have the ability to make critical management decisions under pressure and effectively deal with varying personalities in a diverse and exciting environment.

The assistant athletic director of athletic communication must: be able to develop a team of student workers who are passionate about athletic communications and desire a future in the industry; be able to develop and train a team of statisticians to staff the various University athletic events on a routine basis; must adhere to deadlines and a code of professionalism as it relates to media standards when teaching students and student-athletes how to effectively deal with the media; must be responsible for continued development of desktop publishing technical capabilities and Internet publicity, including website and social media for Intercollegiate Athletics. Designs and maintains editorial and graphic content on intercollegiate athletics website using html, Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Other duties as assigned.
