Job Title: Assistant Softball Coach

As a full time assistant softball coach at Bethune-Cookman University, the qualified candidate will assist the Head Softball Coach by performing roles and responsibilities that will help effectively manage the day-to-day operations of a Division I softball program in accordance with NCAA, MEAC Conference and Bethune-Cookman University policies and procedure s, while assisting the athletic department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development. The

Assistant coach needs to demonstrate proven abilities in establishing good rapport and effective working relationships with

Student-athletes, administrators, faculty, staff, and the community.

Job Summary: The assistant softball coach will report directly to the head softball coach and is directly responsible for the following duties:

Essential Functions:

* Direct support of the vision, goals and strategies of the bead coach
* Serves as a teacher in practice and competition with respect to individual and team skill development for the
* Softball program, to include video evaluation with each athlete on a weekly basis.
* Upon completion of NCAA certification test, actively recruit (evaluate; communicate; document; organize on
* Campus visits) the highest caliber of student-athletes to attend and compete for the university.
* Supervise practice, skill sessions, study ball and team travel under the oversight of the head coach.
* Serves as a mentor and positive influence on the student-athletes in the softball program.
* Represents the university and athletic department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
* Organizes and oversees fall/spring and/or summer camps and clinics.
* Travels on occasion representing the university at various functions and events.
* Organization of scouting reports and pre-game preparation of opponents, to include video evaluation.
* Oversight of equipment, apparel distribution and management.
* Assists and is directly involved in the monitoring of classroom participation, attendance and academic success for all student-athletes within the softball program.
* Committed to promote an atmosphere of compliance and adherence to institutional, conference and NCAA
* Rules and regulations.
* Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal), organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects within specific deadlines.
* Ability to integrate innovative technology and possess strong computer skills with a general knowledge of recruiting and video software, while also being willing to learn additional programs as needed
* Any other administrative or on-field duties as assigned by the head coach.

Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree is preferred for each full time assistant coach; At least one-year demonstrated success as a collegiate softball coach and/or two years of success competing at the collegiate and/or professional level.

Requirements: Employee e will be required to possess a valid Florida driver's license, current certification annually for NCAA recruiting and rules implementation and pass routine and random drug screening as mandated by the department of athletics.

Environmental/Physical Conditions: The employee must be physically able to demonstrate many of the skills required for the student-athletes to succeed in the respective sport. The employee also must be able to work outdoors during in-climate weather and also during extreme cold and hot weather situations.
