Job Description

Job Title: Instructor of Nursing (Full-Time)

Sector: School of Nursing Department: Nursing

JOB SUMMARY: Registered Nursing Faculty at Bethune-Cookman University are directly responsible to the Dean of the School of Nursing. Assist the Dean and the School of Nursing in the implementation of program and student learning outcomes. Faculty assist in the development, revision, and implantation of curricula which is grounded in an evidenced based practice model.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Faculty provide classroom teaching, supervise students in the laboratory and clinical settings, and administer standardized testing. Faculty persons also provide advisement to students, as well as mentorship throughout the matriculation process. Faculty are required to have knowledge of the unit, to be an integral member of the Nurse Faculty Committee, and to serve and/or chair School of Nursing standing committees. Faculty are also expected to maintain currency in their respective areas of teaching responsibility, as well as clinically competent.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
* Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida 5+ years clinical experience
* 2 years of teaching experience in an academic or healthcare setting (preferred). Computer Literate
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong clinical and professional skills
* Basic Life Support Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Minimum 5 years teaching experience in a BSN program.
* CPR certification
* Experience in curriculum development and/or curriculum assessment and evaluation
* Knowledge and participation in the accreditation process

* Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit for an interview
* Commitment to teaching, scholarship and service that is consistent with the University's priorities for the School and the mission of the University

* Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.
* Must be mobile throughout the campus.
* Must be able to practice as a Registered Nurse in the clinical setting without limitations.
