Job Description

Job Summary

Manages the accounting and financial reporting functions of the University. Provides professional support to the University Controller.


* Supervises and directs the operation and proper maintenance of all accounting functional areas.
* Assists departments with the resolution of accounting issues.
* Manages the preparation of all interim and year-end financial statement reporting, as well as special reporting on budgets, capital reserves and performance.
* Assists with Annual Audit process.
* Assists University Controller with special projects
* Supervises the preparation of all governmental forms and reports as required.
* Provides back up support to Accounts Payable Manager and Student Accounts Manager

Required Skills

* Working knowledge of computerized financial systems, preferably Banner, is required.
* Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required.
* Must have demonstrated experience with financial statement and report preparation.
* Must possess effective oral communication, writing, organizational, analytical, problem solving, supervisory, and group leadership skills.
* Ability to use Microsoft Excel at a highly proficient level is required.
* Individual must be able to handle sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner.

Required Experience

Minimum: 4 years of experience in management accounting. Preferred: Experience in higher education or a large not-for-profit organization

Required Education

Minimum of a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or business administration required. CPA or CMA required.

Additional Information

* Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of times.
* This is a 1.0 FTE, 12 months per year position.
