Purchasing Manager

Coordinate, supervise and direct purchasing and warehouse operations. Bellflower Unified School District. Closing date: February 28, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.


Minimum of $70,823 to a maximum of $86,946 annually. The salary rate is based on the 2016-2017 schedule for classified management. This is a five step schedule. Vacation - 24 days per year.


As a member of the district’s management team and reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the successful candidate will coordinate, supervise, and direct the district’s purchasing and warehouse operations. Responsible for the operation of perpetual inventory systems and central warehousing, distribution, and delivery operations; purchases by competitive bidding, informal quotations, negotiations, and in compliance with state laws and Board polices; obtains and studies comparative prices and quotations; establishes and implements policies and procedures for purchasing and warehouse operations; develops and recommends policies and procedures; prepares Board of Education agenda items, correspondence and reports; supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned personnel.



Four (4) years of progressively more responsible experience in a purchasing office including two years at a supervisory level. A baccalaureate degree in business administration or public administration with an emphasis in government procurement or closely related field. Any combination of education or experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge/Ability: The successful candidate will have the knowledge of principles and procedures used in governmental purchasing. The candidate must also have the ability to plan and schedule buying; interpret market prices and trends; prepare specifications and review and analyze bids, Other: A valid California driver’s license and insurability by the district’s auto insurance carrier must be maintained at all times during employment with the district. Must successfully pass a drug screening by a physician of the district’s choice prior to employment.

The Bellflower Redevelopment Agency was created on April 9, 1990 through the adoption of Resolution No. RA-90-4. Ordinance No. 768 was later adopted on July 8, 1991 to approve the Redevelopment Plan for Bellflower Redevelopment Project Area No. 1.
