Performs Electrical Controls and Systems engineering activities, which include as a minimum the use of SETROUTE, BlockDraw and ETAP. Individual must have understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line drawings, schematics, and be able to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations. Individual shall be able to develop material requisitions and specifications for equipment where deviations from standard documentation is required. Performs special tasks, calculations/studies and provides leadership, training, and consultation to co-workers. Responsible to produce basic and higher-tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope. Conducts checking as required. Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks. Ability to cope with conflicting deadline, frequent interruptions and multiple tasks. Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be a self-starter and capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry proven concepts, and procedures. Must work well with others, other disciplines, and groups. Must understand electronic Cable Management Systems, such as SETROUTE, and be able to input and complete corrections to the data base.
BS degree in electrical engineering with 1 year of related electrical design experience; or 7 years of related hands on experience in lieu of degree.
Must have 1 year of experience in Electrical Engineering developing documentation for Conceptual, Preliminary and Final Design
Must be a US citizen or be able to work and remain in the US without sponsorship
EIT Certification or able to obtain within 12 months of employment
Hands on Microsoft office programs and other computer programs
Knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards
Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and electrical equipment layouts
Familiar with or course work using industry wide electrical system calculation/design tools, such as ETAP, CAD 2D and cable designing and routing software
Experience with an electronic Cable Management System
Excellent oral & written communications skills
Experience with SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections in the data base
Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience
