Job Description

Beacon Hill has an opportunity for a Data Center Operator with our client located in Akron, Ohio. This is a contract to hire position and will convert to a permanent position.


  • Responsible for managing and controlling all activities of the Corporate Data Center including Job Recovery, system availability, communications and Data Center Facility systems.
  • Managing and controlling all activities of the Corporate Data Center including Job Recovery, system availability, communications and Data Center Facility systems.
  • Evaluating and determining the action steps required for problem resolution in normal and emergency/abnormal situations which may involve significant choices between many different possible procedures to address the problem.
  • Providing final interface with all customers and vendors as related to the Data Center Operations.
  • Schedule vendors for testing/repair of hardware systems and communications disruption.
  • Coordinate software/hardware maintenance and assist in the implementation of upgrade/changes to the systems at the proper time-window allowed.
  • Responsible for updating/creating documentation.
  • Operating and monitoring computer equipment and peripherals.
  • Keep required logs and system records according to department procedures.
  • Provides support to end users as needed.
  • Perform D/R tape management duties.
  • Install/De-install server hardware
  • Must have aptitude and attitude to learn/work on new technologies.
  • Work closely with Technical Support regarding technology and hardware upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to work closely with small group of teammates for extended periods. Attention to detail. Ability to multi-task.
  • Experience with Batch Job scheduling tools (CA-ESP, Tivoli Workload Scheduler).
  • Experience in IBM Mainframe environment and associated tools (TSO, workbench, etc) is a plus.
  • Highly organized and proactive.
  • Well versed in MS Windows, MS Office and SharePoint.
