Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: Each Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for the sales, profitability, inventory and customer interface for all major electronics products with Ontic Chatsworth. As with all mature "legacy" aerospace product lines, there is a natural gradual decline in the fleet sizes of the aircraft, and therefore the size of the business. The PLM is responsible for extending the usable lifetime of the product line, maintaining/expanding the revenue it generates, maximizing profitability, managing inventory levels, ensuring timely operations with the factory, and managing the customers/prospects that require your products. Effectively, the PLM is a "General Manager" for your product lines who works within a matrix organization to make sure your products are well represented and taken care of.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB

* Monitor daily quote activity with customers/prospects for your product line(s)
* Help in all major pricing decisions (i.e. catalogs, individual RFQ's, proposals, etc.)
* Identify, develop and close sales opportunities with your product line(s)
* Accelerate the timing and size of sales transactions that may otherwise happen well into the future
* Attend trade shows and visit customers to identify sales opportunities, improve customer service, develop the product line, discuss technical issues, discuss repair/overhaul issues, discuss product and service quality, etc.
* Monitor and maintain the profitability of your product line, managing both price and costs.
* Recommend specific inventory levels (safety stock, min/max, forecast orders, etc.) to drive sales and responsible use of working capital and cash.
* Attend regular daily meeting every week with other departments to ensure that your product line is being attended to well (i.e. quality, on-time delivery, costs, priority within the shop, etc.).
* Participate in regular meetings with other PLM's and Managers on the Ontic leadership team to discuss the status of your product line.
* Prepare status charts and provide quarterly "Product Line Reviews" and Operations Reviews, summarizing the financial health of your line via metrics and what has been newsworthy since the last update.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 10 years of aerospace industry experience, working with commercial and/or military customers and specifically electronic aerospace products (i.e. avionics, aircraft power distribution, IFE, weapons system controls, radar or flight controls, radar or navigation system, etc.)
* At least 4 years of experience working directly with aerospace customers, preferably as a Program Manager, Contracts Administrator, Customer Service Representative or Sales Representative
* Experience working with and managing basic projects, assigning roles/responsibilities and monitoring the progress all the way through completion
* Experience developing and implementing basic sales/marketing campaigns, which may include brochures, sales pieces, e-mail campaigns, PowerPoint presentations, direct marketing, and use of 3rd party databases to determine target audiences
* Ability to work with numbers using spreadsheets to calculate and analyze product line sales trends, profitability, inventory metrics, quotation metrics, and SIOP analysis
* Outgoing and energetic personality, with the desire to manage business results work with customers, and have a positive impact on the business
* Ability for some business travel throughout the year (10% - 20%).

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

* Undergraduate degree from a certified college/university or job experience equivalent. Ideally, qualified candidates would have a technical degree that included electronics designs and/or vocational training.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs
* Knowledge of basic MRP/ERP functionality

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

* Familiar with aerospace electronics components/systems (commercial and/or military) and their basic function and operation.
