Job Summary:

The Registered Professional Nurse Acute Care is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork. The RN I status and job description is only appropriate for a new nurse in the first year of practice, as support from others in incorporated into this role as an expectation. Therefore, all RN Is are expected to complete the requirements of the Nurse Residency program and complete the application and credentialing process for successful advancement to RN II by 12-15 months after hire.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate, Associate or Diploma Professional Nursing program is required Licensure/Certificates: NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit must be obtained within 90 days of employmentBLS certification or equivalent must be obtained within 30 days from start date Experience:New graduate or less than 1 year experience as an RN Skills:Ability to assess patient status and take appropriate action is requiredDemonstrates competency in required nursing skills relevant to area of practiceAbility to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment Physical Requirements:Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required throughout the shiftAbility to lift and position patients requiredCategory I risk exposure as defined by OSHAMust be able identify and differentiate colors
