Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Global Category Buyer in Florham Park, NJ.

The Global Category Buyer Agro Key Raw Materials is responsible for key intermediates and raw materials needed for BASF North America Crop Protection production activities. The GCB will be responsible for managing the assigned raw material portfolio and liaise with all relevant stakeholders. This includes negotiation with suppliers, aligning and cooperating within the category team as well as managing the contacts to the internal business partners.
The Global Category Buyer also provides regional input related to supply and demand market dynamics for the development of strategies and supports the implementation of the category strategies.

Formula for Success: You will...
- Support the development of supply strategies for the North American region. Work closely with the business unit and the Procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.
- Lead and manage sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key strategic contracts and highly complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF
- Relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
- Conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.
- Support purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Must have a BS/BA. Preferably in natural science, marketing, sales, supply chain or related field. MBA degree is a plus
- Seeking candidates with 8 years+ of working experience.
- Contract writing and negotiations experience is mandatory
- Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, and/or Sales and Marketing is highly desirable
- Experience with global, cross functional, virtual teams
- Proven ability to quickly pick-up new knowledge & understand value chains in chemistry
- Must be willing and able to travel at least 50%.

Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with business value creation know how
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to manage relationships with internal partners as well as suppliers
- Able to make and implement decisions with high level of ambiguity
- Ability to lead and influence others
- Proficiency in market knowledge, strategy development and implementation
