Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position supports Chemical Engineering Research (CER) in Wyandotte, MI. CER is dedicated to support the robust and profitable manufacturing of both new and existing products through process know-how and innovation initiatives. This is where scale-up, development, product introductions, production research, and even small-scale production takes place. To carry out its purpose, the high performing CER group employs labs and pilot plants that range from half-gallon to 2,500-gallon chemical reactors. CER hosts over 80 scientists, chemical engineers, associate scientists, technicians, and developing engineering interns. CER houses several groups with superior employee engagement, either in corporate research, or dedicated to one of the business units.

This position is aligned with similar positions at this level at other business partners whom we support. This role will provide production planning and scheduling as well as support supply chain raw material planning, finished goods inventory planning, processing of returns, extending new raw material article numbers, dysfunctional inventory monitoring, and related approvals and transactions activities. The role also provides support to article number management (BOM's and routings / SPASS / FMS). Responsibilities include samples shipping and receiving, also include month-end closing processes, finished goods inventory balancing (daily), inventory management through formal cycle counts, and backup of the other team members as needed.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Create production schedules and ensure availability of necessary raw materials to maintain those schedules.
- Lead continuous improvement projects within Logistics
- Facilitate supply planning side of schedule and aligns the master schedule with the aggregate Research Plan and Production Plan.
- Use capacity planning tools to ensure validity of schedules. Review and manage all schedule change requests.
- Identify, negotiate, and resolve any supply/demand issues with the tenants of CER, the business groups, Marketing, Sales, Production, Research, and the Engineers.
- Balance scheduled stability with customer responsiveness and ensures that past dues do not occur in Master Schedule.
- Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain raw material planning and replenishment, inventory management, and logistics support for the CER.
- Ensure effective implementation of business and operating rules to ensure supply chain integrity, integration, and bottom-line results.
- Manage the month-end closing process for all raw materials consumed in the production unit, intermediates generated, and finished goods to insure product placement to meet customer requirements. Make appropriate adjustments in SAP and Cispro following generally accepted accounting practices.
- Communicate with the engineers, production team, product management team and marketing/sales team daily to insure priorities are aligned and plans are in place to execute.
- Produce daily finished goods inventory balance reports.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience is Supply Chain, Customer Care, production planning, production scheduling, material planning, or a similar field; OR non-degreed candidates would be expected to have at least 6 years of related experience in Customer Care, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, or Production.
- Detailed working knowledge of SAP relative to production planning, raw material replenishment, material master maintenance, shipping scheduling, and inventory reconciliation.
- Familiarity with Chemical Inventory System Pro (CISPRO) for tracking chemical and laboratory supplies preferred.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to provide raw materials or finished goods planning and associated tasks with this role.
- Proven ability to work in a team to collaborate for achievement in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communications, written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- APICS CPIM certification within 2 years preferred.
