This is a tactical and daily maintenance-focused position. Responsibilities are to collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel and provide services relating to maintenance, design, and repair, including preventative maintenance.

Maintenance Engineer I (1702963) - Wyandotte, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Improve Asset Effectiveness and reliability of equipment and processes.
- Provide first-line technical support to maintenance supervisors and crafts on equipment problems.
- Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units, including emergency work reviews.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
- Create, review and adjust Functional Locations, PM Plans, and BOMs.
- Review SOPs from a maintenance perspective.
- Support the reliability processes to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve asset effectiveness while maintaining safe work practices.
- Develop disciplined and systematic equipment maintenance strategy and upkeep (ever-green) based upon business needs.
- Provide input to Maintenance budget.
- Determine cost advantages of alternatives for developing action plans to comply with customer demands for the timely repair of equipment.
- Establish, monitor, and optimize Preventative Maintenance Plans.
- Assist in the training and development of in-house maintenance resources.
- Identify and implement maintenance and reliability best practices across the site.
- Interpret codes, regulations, and standards.
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for use.
- Support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements, as well as regulatory and BASF standards.

- Mean time to repair for critical equipment
- Number of bad actors eliminated and impact on operational savings

- AE improvements
- Schedule compliance of preventive maintenance jobs

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 2 or more years of degreed professional experience in the chemical / petrochemical or a similar manufacturing industry.
- Proven computer skills using SAP CMMS or a similar enterprise software system.
- Sound technical knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
- General understanding of industrial maintenance procedures including work planning, PM, and repair parts acquisition.
- Understanding of critical maintenance activities (i.e.; static and rotating mechanical equipment repairs).
- Ability to work in a diverse environment - working closely with mechanical and instrument technicians, operators, engineers, and management to solve problems and address systemic issues related to equipment reliability.

Preferred:
- 2 or more years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a chemical or similar manufacturing operation conducting maintenance optimization and work process improvements.
- Capable of making business decisions based upon situation analysis and resources available.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work in a team environment.
