Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Market Segment Manager is responsible for leading the marketing and business development activities for Performance Materials North America into key consumer product segments. This includes developing and implementing segment strategies, identifying and prioritizing attractive application areas, coordinating technical development activities, creating market commercialization strategies, and managing relationship with key OEM's that will lead to above-average market growth for the Performance Materials (PM) Consumer business. The role also requires strong coordination with Sales and with colleagues in Europe and Asia to share and translate opportunities.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop and implement marketing strategy for the defined segment(s).
- Identify market needs for new products, applications, and/or services
- Develop unique value propositions for market sub-segments
- Conduct market segmentations and prioritize customer growth opportunities to focus BASF's resources
- Monitor segment profitability and develop strategies to improve sustainability and growth
- Coordinate segment strategies with global colleagues to insure consistent pricing and positioning with global customers
- Effectively communicate plan throughout the organization to drive engagement and support
- Regularly monitor and report status of segment strategy implementation to defined KPIs
- Maintain segment technology roadmap and growth pipeline.
- Initiate innovation projects within segment to secure growth and provide on-going prioritization of opportunities
- Identify new market innovation opportunities
- Business Development
- Manage relationships with target OEM's to support business development activities
- Identify and assist in the development and closure of new business targets with the sales teams
- Provide supporting sales tools (e.g., presentations, brochures)
- Provide leads and account direction for sales
- Lead new product and/or application launches.
- Develop/maintain industry and segment knowledge and track emerging trends.
- Attend/exhibit/present at key conferences
- Develop and maintain key industry relationships
- Develop and maintain key customer relationships
- Contribute as core member of the Global segment team.
- Develop communication plans which support segment strategy.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering or a related technical discipline; a degree in other disciplines with proven marketing experience in products of a similar technical complexity will be considered.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing, sales, or product management.
- Experience with engineering plastics and/or polyurethanes is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in developing and executing marketing and strategic plans is a plus.
- Experience in building and managing complex customer relationships is desired.
- Must possess high degree of leadership and organizational skills and the ability to influence various functional groups to achieve goals.
- Excellent prioritization and project management skills.
- Persuasive presentation development and delivery skills (internal and external).
- Ability to analyze complex business systems and value chains using information from a variety of sources.
