Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Lab Supervisor for our Freeport, TX facility. Reporting to the PD/QA Lab Manager, you will supervise work activities of Laboratory Technicians that provide QC/QA testing and support PD activities for operations. You will maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable Laboratory to support the CP/CI/ED businesses at the Freeport Site. You will perform other duties as required.

The Oxo Alcohol, Poly Alcohol, Acrylic Acid, Acrylic Monomers and Dispersions QA/PD Group is responsible for the quality assurance of over 35 products from three different business groups, produced in both continuous and batch processes. They are responsible for maintaining four production laboratories and training the production technicians in approved analytical procedures. The QA/PD Group is also responsible for the quality assurance of several remote product storage terminals.

The QA/PD Supervisor will interact with production, shipping, marketing, analytical services, purchasing, customer service, logistics and sometimes outside customers.

The QA/PD Supervisor will have 10 direct, hourly (PMU) reports.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Supervise the Laboratory Technicians responsible for supporting operating units at the site and provide support to resolve analytical discrepancies.
- Be accountable for daily environmental and safety compliance.
- Establish lab goals, objectives, and operational budgets to assure continuous improvement and alignment with production.
- Track Team Performance for success (KPI's/Metrics).
- Monitor check standards and calibrations, and participate in monthly calibration meeting.
- Contribute to investigations related to product non-conformances to ensure true root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Develop, build, and maintain an engaged work force.
- Conduct Performance Management Reviews.
- Monitor and approve hourly time cards in SAP.
- Be a super user in SAP/QM and manage customer specifications.
- Utilize talent development process to promote the development of team members.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and selection of employees

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a Technical degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree in Science with a minimum of 5 years of Laboratory experience in a Manufacturing environment; OR or a minimum of 7 years of relevant Laboratory experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience in a Supervisory / Leadership role leading and driving for results through good communications and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safe laboratory operations and ability to implement and maintain safe laboratory practices and support a prominent safety culture among lab employees..
- Ensure all activities comply with the relevant legal BASF requirements.
- Good understanding of business acumen and customer focus.
- Working knowledge of GC/HPLC instrumentation with well-developed analytical methodology and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Experience with SAP database.
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge/experience.
- Availability and ability to be on call for lab issues.

This position requires all candidates to either possessor obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
