This is where you come in as the Turnaround (TAR) Manager in Geismar, Louisiana.

In this role, you will plan, lead, and drive the successful execution of all assigned phases of the turnaround management process for all Geismar plants (small, medium and large turnarounds). You will apply global procedures, best practices, and tools to the TAR process and ensure the milestone plan for the turnaround is achieved.

As the TAR Manager, you will provide expert leadership and management to the execution teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective execution of Turnaround and Outage maintenance by BASF employees and contractors. This includes mechanical, instrument, and electrical maintenance, along with the work processes and a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools.

As the Turnaround Manager, you will:

Provide managerial leadership for your assigned Maintenance Area:
- Oversee the development of multiple 5-year TAR plans, budgets ($50M - $70M), schedules, and organizations in line with the business unit objectives.
- Lead the development of TAR goals, ensure implementation, monitor effectiveness, and take necessary actions to meet overall business objectives.
- Manage talent development and succession planning for staff, including team development and building/maintaining an engaged workforce. Coach staff and support mutually agreed upon development needs and training opportunities. Conduct job assignments considering developmental opportunities, and providing training and coaching so employees can be successful.
- Provide oversight and direction to the turnaround planning team which can range from 20 to 70 people based on the size and complexity of the turnaround. Provide direct supervision to site Turnaround execution teams consisting of BASF TAR engineers, BASF TAR Coordinators, and multiple TAR Operations Planning Specialists. Oversee BASF employee and contractor teams that will vary in size based on the size and complexity of the turnaround.

Ensure Work Execution Efficiency and Effectiveness:
- Ensure all aspects of the TAR maintenance execution work processes are being followed
- Ensure the application of all safety rules, assuring personnel are aware of and employing safe working practices and promoting safety programs and behaviors.

Develop and implement TAR maintenance strategies to optimize effectiveness and efficiency:
- Establish and execute TAR contracting and material procurement strategies to ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies and provide the best overall service value and material total cost of ownership. Oversee the development and execution of TAR logistics processes.
- Continually develop and implement strategies to optimize multiple TAR work scopes to both reduce TAR spending and also ensure facility post start-up operating objectives are achieved.

Promote the use of LEAN manufacturing tools to identify waste and ensure continuous improvement:
- Understand, champion, and implement LEAN activities via role modeling activities, sharing best practices, and holding staff accountable.

Function as a Site, Corporate and Global expert for TAR maintenance processes, work execution:
- Serve on BASF regional and global teams to develop and optimize maintenance execution, reliability, and work processes. Serve as a representative to Professional Organizations and local councils.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- Leading a team of 10-12 Direct Reports and up to 1000 indirect employee and contract workers at any given time, you will leverage your experience managing large TARs as well as your expertise in mechanical, civil, instrumentation, and electrical engineering in a chemical/petrochemical, food, paper or other similar manufacturing operation.
- Having directly managed for a number of years, you will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of maintenance work and execution for all types of crafts typically used in such facilities as well as in depth knowledge and experience in the planning and execution of large (> $5M) turnarounds.
- Your knowledge of SAP and a strong knowledge of accounting practices associated with maintenance and project work is advantageous coupled with your experience in continuous process improvement such as lean methodologies and OpEx.
