The SIREN Facilitator, Cert Team Coordinator & Contractor Liaison Backup

We are seeking a Siren Facilitator & Cert Team Leader who will also be responsible for supporting the site Contractor Liaison. This permanent, full time position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects by supporting the Exposure Reduction Program, Emergency Response Team and serving as Back-up to the Contractor Liaison. The Site Leadership Team will have discretionary approval for BASF employee candidates with less than two years in their current position. The SIREN Facilitator provides guidance and ensures implementation of all phases of the Living the Journey Exposure Reduction Process at the Newport Site. Enables the site to minimize risk exposure and increase employee engagement to deliver improvements in overall site safety performance. Develops and carries out improvement activities for sustaining the Exposure Reduction Process.

The site's Emergency Response Team Coordinator is responsible for organizing training for CERT members, maintaining equipment and all records pertaining to emergency response.

The Contractor Liaison Backup will provide support to the site Liaison by assisting and overseeing activities related to permits, contractors, construction management, logistics and contractor safety.

Specific responsibilities of the SIREN Facilitator include:
- Supports the Culture and Talent Management foundation of Operational Excellence
- Utilizes Mindsets and Behavior (M & B) techniques and tools to further promote the safety culture at Newport site
- Leads the Newport SIREN Steering Committee Team:
- Coordinates team meetings - time, place, and agenda
- Chairs team meetings
- Assures that meetings stay focused and objectives are accomplished
- Ensures that minutes of meetings are taken, prepared, and distributed
- Bring team members up to speed when unable to attend team activities/meetings
- Accommodates shift schedules in scheduling team activities and meetings
- Monitors and encourages follow-through by team members on their responsibilities
- Provides informational presentations to employee groups
- Motivates fellow employees to take an active role in the process
- Conducts observer training sessions
- Uses RINCON software to enter data and generate reports for further analysis
- Facilitates problem-solving and action-planning meetings using observation data for safety improvement.
- Serves as a liaison with management while staying current with status reviews
- Serves as a liaison with BASF Implementation Leader (IL).
- Provides detailed meeting minutes and other materials to the consultant and IL, as required.
- Coordinates with BST Consultant and/or BASF Implementation Leader for needed site visits and training events
- Sets observer schedules
- Maintains close relationship with and supports Leading the Journey process.
- Represents Newport Site to outside groups (providing information, best practice sharing)
- Assists with efforts to market and promote ERP across the organization

Specific responsibilities of the Emergency Response Team Coordinator include:
- Actively seeks new members for CERT team.
- Facilitates training of Emergency Response Team members to ensure that the curriculum requirements are fulfilled
- Accommodates shift schedules in scheduling team activities and meetings
- Partners with outside instructors specializing in Confined Space Rescue & Hazmat Response
- Partners with EHS team to maintain Emergency Response Plan & Manual
- Maintains updated equipment inventory and training databases
- Ensures that CERT equipment and vehicles are registered, tagged and/or inspected as required and upgraded as needed
- Maintains relationship with local and state Emergency Response organizations
- Provides training and site specific information to local fire company
- Partners with the EHS team to plan and execute drills including Mutual Aid drills

Specific responsibilities of the Contractor Liaison Back-up
- Upon certification, issue safe work, hot work and confined space entry permits as warranted
- Assist with daily job/project planning and scheduling
- Monitor workload assignment to ensure timeliness and quality standards are met
- Assist with management of facilities maintenance
- Maintain contractor time & materials documentation
- Act as liaison between managers, engineers, and contractors
- Conduct inspections in determining if work is in accordance with contract documents; report to project manager defective, faulty or unsatisfactory work
- Execute and apply short-range planning and scheduling for contractor maintenance work
- Support and contribute to site EHS&S initiatives, policies & guidelines

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required Experience:
- Must have worked in manufacturing role as operator, mechanic, lab tech, material handler, etc.
- Must be a BASF employee for 1 year.
- Previous exposure to safety principles, methods and processes in the workplace
- Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and influence others and sustain teamwork
- Good organizational, analytical, problem solving and facilitation skills to identify and resolve conflict, and reach a consensus where possible
- Demonstrated commitment to M & B principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to speak in public
- Experience working at the Newport Site for one year in the production areas (Synthesis, Metasheen, Labs, Maintenance) preferred
- You must have achieved a performance rating of "Best Team Achievements" or better during the most recent performance year, and currently have satisfactory performance. Previous years rating must be "Best in Team" or higher
- Previous first aid, hazmat, and/or confined space training is preferred
- Previous experience with permit authorizations

Desired Experience:
- Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
- Experience in time management and project management
- Self-Starter
- Computer skills (e.g. Power Point, Excel, and Microsoft Word)
- Experience working on rotating shift
- Post high school education is a plus
- Mindsets and Behaviors Change Agent or Change Catalyst preferred
