Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all site logistical activities in support of BASF's Plastic Additives business in North America. Responsibilities include leading a team of (4) direct reports (Shipping Group Leader, Logistics Operations Coordinators and Storeroom Manager), and indirect supervision of the Supply Chain group in the development of a long-term supply network plan. This role will support the site operational planning processes in alignment with BU global operational planning objectives and expectations. In addition, this role will be responsible for coordinating the cross-functional efforts to drive site inventory accuracy and logistical effectiveness.

Logistics Manager (1703004) - McIntosh, AL

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Manage People - Develop and continuously optimize the N-EVP site planning and logistics teams to ensure business requirements and expectations are met. This includes managing the identification, on-boarding, and continuous development/training of all N-EVP site logistics.
- Manage Raw Material Planning - Procure packaging materials in support of production scheduling to ensure operational and customer service levels and working capital targets are met.
- Inventory Management - Ensure supply planning team is actively engaged in the management of all inventory from regional supply points. This includes the monitoring and aggressive management of dysfunctional stock to ensure appropriate and timely disposition of returned, damaged, and aged inventories. Partner with Product Management, Operations to ensure off-spec inventories are being managed to meet business working capital targets and expectations.
- Management of Site Logistics - Ensure site logistics team is accurately and timely handling the loading and unloading of trailers, moving, and spotting railcars and associated paperwork and data. Maintain the organization of warehouses to ensure material can be found easily and obtained for use by production and shipping, maintaining supplies related to shipping and warehousing, proper order preparation for direct customer shipments, and optimizing logistics processes between logistics, supply chain, and the production units and warehousing.
- Management of Site Warehousing Activity - Optimize space, identify improvements, and configuration of finished goods and raw materials warehouses on the McIntosh site. Lead the implementation and optimization of the warehouse module in ERP system and work with supply chain to optimize logistics processes between plant and warehouses. Work closely with logistics procurement to optimum use of warehouse space in McIntosh and off-site warehousing.
- Manage Projects - Oversee system and process improvement projects impacting N-EVP supply/logistics planning activities in North America in alignment with global standards. This includes, but is not limited to, interfacing with EV Business Experts and Global Supply Chain (GS) to properly manage ongoing planning system enhancements to meet changing business needs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field required. (Note: Other disciplines would be considered with demonstrated successful logistics management experience.)
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain/logistics management or demonstrated successful experience in a related discipline (e.g., Product Management, Procurement, Customer Care, Operations, Finance).
- Ability to manage cross-functional projects that deliver defined objectives in a complex work environment.
- Thorough understanding of material planning processes, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP).
- Proficiency with SAP APO or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Excellent communications, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Action-oriented with good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to foster teamwork with members of Operations, Product Management, and Supply Chain groups.
- Capability to think and act in a global team environment.
- Prior experience leading teams.
