Where the Chemistry Happens…

The position provides technical support for Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response, and Security compliance activities as needed through a shared services concept.

EHS Specialist (1703145) - Zachary, LA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise to maintain Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response, and Security compliance through support and program assistance.
- Facilitate sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the EHS Community.
- Implement and operate Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Emergency Response standardized processes and administration of related electronic systems.
- Oversee the Security function, including contractor security personnel.
- Develop effective working relationships with site management, employees, and the EHS community to drive continuous improvement in performance.
- Provide input to the Hub EHS Team Leader in assessing site safety, emergency response, and industrial hygiene performance.
- Lead and/or participate in investigation and root cause analysis for on-site incidents.
- Participate in capital project reviews and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.
- Provide regulatory interpretation for operational and maintenance activities.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS and/or Operations within the manufacturing industry; OR an Associate's degree with 10 years of experience in EHS and/or Operations within the manufacturing industry; OR High School diploma plus 15 years of experience in the safety field or process operations in the manufacturing industry; advanced degree is a plus.
- Maintaining and monitoring Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Emergency Response compliance programs is preferred.
- Leading or participating in investigations and root cause analysis for on-site incidents is a plus
- Experience developing training packages for regulatory changes or company policies is preferred.
- Management of Security functions is a plus.
- Must be able to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
