Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Continuous Improvement Leader position is responsible for leading large and complex continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodology to achieve the site's annual improvement opportunities and key activities. S/he will also serve as a subject matter expert on Lean Six Sigma methodology and will lead and mentor other employees. The person in this role will serve as a champion/leader with the responsibility to attain and document business results through the use of Lean manufacturing tools and DMAIC problem solving methodology that will enable the site to systematically improve performance.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Ensure improvement is rolled out in an effective and sustainable way. You will drive these processes by working with Subject Matter Experts, Stakeholders, and Quality Management personnel. Providing monthly status reports via visual boards will ensure a real and effective continuous improvement process.
- Implement statistical process controls across all unit operations, statistical analysis, quality improvement processes/tools, and continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Lead and execute business critical projects using Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Design procedures aimed at improving efficiencies, reducing cost and variability, eliminating waste, and improving safety standards.
- Mentor and coach other Belt candidates towards completion and certification of their projects.
- Implement new processes and technologies through business improvement and Six Sigma initiatives aimed at progressing the site's manufacturing capabilities. This will include delivering specific improvement projects (e.g., engineering, reliability, safety, cost control, process control, energy reduction) across the site.
- Set a yearly training plan to meet the needs of each shift.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree required, combined with at least 1.5 years of experience in Operations/Quality.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred; if not certified, must be willing to attain certification within 18 months.
- Experience in batch chemical processes preferred.
- Experience in multiple disciplines (Production, Engineering, Quality, EHS) is a plus.
- Strong leadership experience preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and ownership of Process Safety and EHS Zero-Incident Mindset skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910, PSM, and RCMS requirements.
- Self-motivation and ability to influence others.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization.
- Solid analytical skills to collect and analyze process related data that leads to Root Cause.
