Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Plastic Additives business unit within Performance Chemicals is seeking a Pricing & Financial Analyst who will be responsible for pricing analytics, as well as planning, reporting, and performance analysis for the region. The role will not only track & follow-up pricing process quality KPIs, but will also highlight problem areas requiring management attention, as well as making recommendations for resolution. Further, the analyst will support the development of pricing strategies through statistical and financial analysis. The frequent interaction with Product and Business Management will help in elevating the forecasting of the monthly and annual profit/loss position for Plastic Additives.

Strategic Pricing & Financial Analyst, Plastic Additives (1702910) - Florham Park, NJ

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Support product management with detailed and actionable pricing statistics, analytics, and quality checks to identify critical areas for improvement and optimize profitability, including conformance to PMM guidelines and generation, tracking, and follow-up of Process KPIs for PMM.
- Prepare monthly profit/loss position, gathering/assembly of marketing, sales, and manufacturing data and forecasting the monthly and annual profit/loss position for Plastic Additives.
- Perform reviews and follow-ups of product management and sales requests for financial data, as well as review of profit and loss information in SAP, to investigate and coordinate the correction of major deviations from normal
- Develop and maintain pricing model to aid in proper asset utilization, highlighting where pricing can be optimized to improve profitability (e.g. via price growth or volume gain).
- Conduct competitive pricing analysis.
- Consolidate monthly forecasting, reporting, and annual planning for the transfer business.
- Track and follow-up of co-producer pricing for North America.
- Serve as point-of-contact for product management for Cobus & BOM Explorer.
- Analyze and improve consolidated margin master data quality (broken chains) to ensure business unit reporting is accurate.
- Assist in financial planning and budgeting process, monthly financial performance management, forecast, and business analysis for Americas Plastic Additives.
- Complete ad hoc projects and analysis as required to support the needs of the business

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a controlling/finance/analytical position that includes Excel-based data analysis and focused attention-to-detail.
- Relevant experience in areas such as internal audit, sales price/volume/mix analysis, general ledger account analysis, cost center spending analysis (e.g., versus prior period, budget, trend), or cost accounting/product cost analysis.
- Strong hands-on computer skills: Excel & PowerPoint expertise; SAP and BW knowledge preferred.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for all facets of interaction with Sales, Product Management, Customer Care, and Controlling.
- Ability to interpret various types of information to develop and present key data to management to aid in making business decisions.
- Demonstrated planning and follow-up skills and results focus, as well as demonstrated strong analytical skills.
