We are seeking an Account Manager to join our Corporate Distribution (NC/AD) organization, supporting the East Coast Region.

Distributor Account Manager (DAM) - East Coast Region - Remote Position

As a Distributor Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing our Key Full Line Distributors within the East Coast territory, in both sales revenue and profit.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Act as the primary interface with our Distribution network serving BASF Corporation, managing a broad product portfolio in the East Coast United States; interfacing with key management personnel and distributors for businesses serviced.
- Work with Key Account Managers in implementing their Strategy within the Full Line Distributor sites.
- Act as a central point of contact for distributors requiring assistance in putting together customer sales proposals.
- Interact with the Distributor's sales organizations to provide internal coordination for sales solutions
- Be knowledgeable about product activity at distributors.
- Develop commercial proposals and provide solutions to competitive issues and customer problems
- Evaluate distributor channel activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and guidelines. Function as an advisor on matters of equitable and ethical business practices.
- Evaluate distributor contract product addendums to ensure they are in line with current practices and initiatives.
- Act as interface at distributor on credit and payment issues.
- Quality support - initiates and submits as necessary non-conformance for both technical and service related complains. Notify distributors of impending business or product changes. Consolidate quality responses from distributors.
- Coordinate with business units on the establishment of appropriate distributor training programs and assist in the implementation of the training programs.
- Ensure that business units use appropriate "credit up proof of sale" (CUPS) procedures to document our agreements on distributor support activities at specific accounts.
- Advise Distribution Management on all matters pertaining to the distributor channel involvement.
- Assist Distribution Management in assessing channel needs and in the selection of appropriate distributors.
- Develop and maintain a "pipeline" for new business growth.
- Prepare a monthly summary for the territory to include financial performance, highlights, lowlights, potential new business, potential lost business, pricing, and market intelligence
- Submit expense reports, and all other written communications in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the NC/AD business.
- Effectively manage territory expenses.

Where you'll work…

You'll be based in a location that has easy access to a major airport, allowing you to service your accounts. Your main territory will be primarily composed of the East Coast.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- BS in Chemistry, or Related Field with 15+ years of commercial experience in one of more of the following industries: Personal Care, HI&I, Coatings, Plastics, Food, or Pharma. MBA is a plus. Distribution Sales experience is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in both customer relationship management and negotiation required.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the value chain both upstream and downstream (cost to serve).
- Must be able to demonstrate capability to and previous success in influencing others.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strategic thinking required.
- Willing and able to travel 50%+ of the time.
- Must live near a major airport hub
