Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Technical Sales Representation will promote the sales and use of BASF products to the Paper industry, and will provide technical application expertise to customers in their use. The Technical Sales Representative will establish and maintain close customer relationships to maximize BASF`s presence in the paper industry, and will be responsible for communicating and negotiating pricing for new business, and changes to pricing for existing business.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Gain market knowledge and communicate customer trends and future product demands.
- Adhere to BASF safety, health, and environmental guidelines as well as corporate policies regarding customer reporting, monthly reports, and expense reports.
- Achieve assigned sales targets. Effective management of cost budgets.
- Implement sales strategies as directed from the Regional Sales Manager.
- Demonstrate teamwork and an ability to work with Marketing and Product Management to achieve targets.
- Administrative requirements including expense reporting, customer call reports, and goals and objectives planning.
- Collaborate with management to support, initiate, negotiate, close, monitor, and enforce corporate contracts for assigned customers.
- Assist with collection of funds and bankruptcy filings.
- Prepare customer reports that show what competitive products are being used and other strategic information such as volumes, pricing, and sales terms.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Knowledge/experience of the paper industry. Will consider internship and co-ops as relevant experience. This will translate to an ability to answer less complex customer questions, but typically requires additional support for customer trials and technical evaluations.
- Excellent written oral and communication skills with adeptness at building relationships with multiple internal functions and customers.
- Possess a strong initiative, be results-oriented, and have excellent influencing/impacting skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate with high skill level in Microsoft products (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
