Head of Employee Learning & Development (1701993) - Florham Park, NJ

The North American Employee & Organization Development (E&OD) Center of Excellence is responsible for a broad array of human capital domains, including Employee Development, Workforce Development, Organization Development and Change, Culture and Employee Engagement, Talent Excellence and Learning Technology. This organization is instrumental to ensuring that BASF has the talent capabilities to deliver and sustain exceptional results in North America (NA) through people. This team is responsible for developing a cohesive NA capability building strategy for employees, teams and the organization, which includes defining, predicting, designing, and deploying solutions in support of the business strategy and growth agenda.

As part of the E&OD CoE, this role will develop the strategy, philosophy, solutions portfolio, processes, policies, and standards for best-in-class development of individual contributors, teams, and key communities in alignment with the NA talent strategy. The Head of Employee Learning & Development, reports into the Director Employee and Organization Development and manages two individual contributors. All responsibilities have regional focus and many require interaction with global counter-parts.

As a thought leader, this individual will refine our philosophy in this space, and will be charged with bringing outside-in perspective and insights to enhance our approach. As a change agent, s/he will own and drive critical projects and initiatives to support our business in the region. Finally, as a key influencer, this individual will create and sustain key relationships within a complex work environment, build credibility through demonstrated expertise in the areas of responsibility, and have the vision and tenacity to deliver real change.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Define and continuously improve philosophy and processes around employee development (i.e., career pathing, exploration, talent reviews, development planning, feedback), while ensuring global alignment and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
- Integrate Employee Development into the overall Talent Strategy by partnering with other HR Centers of Excellence (COEs).
- Build and maintain career development tools and methodologies that illustrate functional career opportunities while stimulating broad career development thinking.
- Integrate and leverage synergies between Employee/Career Development and Performance Management in partnership with Total Rewards.
- Partner with the Core Talent Solutions Team (CTST) to ensure the annual cycle of Employee Development and Talent Reviews are deployed effectively and efficiently across the region.
- Conduct needs assessments, design, manage, and communicate a comprehensive portfolio of programs and solutions for employees, teams, and key communities; integrate the portfolio in the overall Talent Strategy to help drive employee engagement, retention, and higher levels of productivity.
- Assess, define, and manage a list of preferred providers in the space of L&D and solutions design; research and trend scout to continuously improve and enhance state-of-the-art learning solutions.
- Define strategies and operating procedures for the following NA Job Families -- Marketing, Sales, Controlling & Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business Management, RD&T.
- Facilitate the exchange of best practices and ensure implementation of targeted talent and career development programs including, but not limited to, Career Roadmaps and Talent Review approaches.
- Define the strategy and relationship model with Functional Learning Academies in line with global best practices; provide expertise and insights for a decentralized group of L&D Coordinators in Manufacturing.
- Manage the regional strategy and solutions for all facets of Employee Onboarding across the region.
- Responsible for Success Factors governance and the digital learning catalog, including functionality, updates, and coordination with other COEs and Academies.
- Nurture a robust external network of peers, providers, and associations with proven expertise in these areas, for quick access to external benchmarking, trends, and data.
- Represent BASF at seminars and various knowledge-sharing exchanges in the areas of responsibility.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree required in Business or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience within HR, preferably in Learning & Development (L&D), OD, Talent Management, or as an HR Generalist.
- Track record of developing and implementing strategic projects in a large, complex work environment.
- Background in leading change initiatives within a complex business environment with multiple key stakeholders.
- A passion for establishing BASF as a great place to work where employees can develop, grown, and contribute to the business.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate actions and build relationships with all organizational levels.
