The Distributor Account Manager will act as the primary interface with our Distribution network servicing the Dispersions and Resins business in North America. As the DAM, you will be field-based in the Southfield, Michigan area.

Distributor Account Manager - Dispersions, Resins and Additives - Field based - 1702637 - Southfield, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Act as a central point of contact for distributors requiring assistance in putting together customer sales proposals.
- Identify new business opportunities and enhance existing distributor relationships, market share and profitability, coordinate business resources to take advantage of those opportunities.
- Identify, through interaction with sales, marketing and distributor personnel, opportunities to increase sales results through the distributor partners, initiating and coordinating the business resources to take advantage of those opportunities.
- Interact with the Distributor's sales organizations to provide internal coordination for sales solutions.
- Be knowledgeable about product activity at distributors.
- Evaluate distributor channel activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and guidelines, and function as an advisor on matters of equitable and ethical business practices.
- Evaluate distributor contract product addendums to ensure that they are in line with current practices and initiatives.
- Perform distributor channel analysis on channel sales, profitability and geographic coverage and report accordingly internally and to distributor partners.
- Act as interface at distributors on credit and payment issues.
- Compile, edit, and publish monthly sales reports, create quarterly erosion reports.
- Initiate and submit as necessary non-conformances for both technical and service related complaints, notify distributors of impending business or product changes, consolidate quality responses from distributors.
- Coordinate with business units on the establishment of appropriate distributor training programs and assist in the implementation of the training programs.
- Ensure that business units use appropriate credit upon proof of shipment (CUPS) procedures to document our agreements on distributor support activities at specific accounts.
- Advise Distribution Management on all matters pertaining to distributor channel involvement.
- Assist Distribution Management in assessing channel needs and in the selection of appropriate distributors.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, supply chain or other business discipline or technical field. MS / MBA a plus.
- 5 years of experience in sales, product management, marketing, business development, supply chain or technical service.
- Previous experience dealing with chemical distributors preferred.
- Experience in both customer relationship management and negotiation preferred.
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the value chain both upstream and downstream.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive, teamwork, collaboration and experience delivering presentations.
- Must be willing to travel internationally (between US and Canada) a minimum of 50% of time.
