At the BASF Huntsville Site, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner. This position contributes by assisting Process Technicians and Targeters with pilot profiling, processing of additive materials into specific catalytic slurry, troubleshooting manufacturing processes, and providing technical support to the coating operations, via knowledge of operating procedures, slurry rheology, and laboratory test results. In addition, this position collects and records data to support process metrics, comply with customer requirements, support site projects, etc., trains, confers, and reports to the Production Control Department.

Principal Responsibilities
- Safety advocate who is committed to identifying and reducing safety exposures
- Ensure the sustainability of the RTC program by actively participating and supporting the completion of projects to drive significant continuous improvements of operational KPIs
- Assists Process Technicians and Targeters with profiles, slurry conditioning and troubleshooting
- Follows work instructions, procedures and product specifications; adds specified amounts of additives and/or water into vessels; sets valves to feed liquid materials through equipment units.
- Sets controls in specified sequence on control panel to start automatic feed.
- Calculates dilutions and additives based off targeting requirements.
- Weighs out quantities of liquid chemicals, following formula sheets.
- Collects resamples for PGM variances and CLCO investigations.
- Observes rheological reactions; monitors temperatures, samples and data recorders; and receives notification from supervisor, or other workers to make specified rheological adjustments.
- Attaches hoses, pumps or transfer equipment to move completed slurry to holding area or manufacturing coating equipment.
- Supports cross training and developmental opportunities in the Production Control Department and must be willing and able to work any assigned shift and overtime as required.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 or more years demonstrated enhanced math and/or science ability

Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations while performing tasks which may require multiple steps
- Ability to operate complex machines and often including use of intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software), including the ability to learn various types of software
- Must demonstrate enhanced trouble shooting skills within their assigned process
- Must be self-directed and operate independently, take ownership for results, overcome obstacles and drive change
- Must demonstrate the ability to identify and initiate work projects and can multi-task
- May control confidential/sensitive information
- Must have positive attitude and strong team collaboration skills
- Must communicate with openness, clarity, organizational awareness and empathy to achieve the desired results
- Act to deliver customer value while achieving profitable business results
- Must be able to collaborate with others for achievement; this will be primarily encountered through daily interactions with both internal and external team members
- Collaboration and active participation required in supporting process improvements and small project team activities
- Requires ability to use respirator and/or forced air supply equipment
- Requires certification to operate mobile equipment
