BASF's PMN business is the leading supplier of Polyurethane Solutions for systems, specialties and PU basic products. With its global network of 30 plus polyurethane system houses and its comprehensive product and service portfolio, it is the preferred partner of its customers in many industries.

This new BASF GSH (Geismar System Hub) is seeking safety conscious, dedicated, energetic, team oriented individuals to become part of a dynamic work environment contributing to a successful Polyurethane System business.

Successful candidates will be responsible for conducting the daily activities related to the batch manufacturing operations of a Polyurethane Systems facility. Operator responsibility and accountability includes, but is not limited to:
- Act in a manner that ensures all BASF standards are maintained in the areas of safety, environmental, quality manufacturing and individual and team performance
- Follow BASF and GSH (Geismar System Hub) values, principles, and procedures while maintaining an acceptable attendance and safety record
- With minimal supervision, follow work procedures and batch recipe instructions displayed on an HMI (Human Machine Interface) to manufacture polyurethane products through both automatic and manual raw material additions to blending vessels
- Transfer raw materials in totes, drums or other packages to the blend vessel area via sit down or stand up forklifts
- Package finished products from the blending vessels into tank trucks, totes or drums using semi-automatic packaging systems
- With minimal supervision, safely and efficiently perform the duties as required in all areas of the GSH including: Production, Tank Truck Handling, Shipping/Receiving docks, Tank Farm, and wireless warehouse
- Develop or change operational procedures to maintain safe work conditions and practices resulting from projects and equipment or process changes
- Perform emergency response activities, as required
- Consistently and accurately complete all associated paperwork
- Demonstrate team work skills consistent with BASF principles
- Inspect satellite waste accumulation areas for compliance, assist in the segregation and shipment of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal wastes from the BASF GSH
- Provide honest and direct communication to both peers and supervisors.
- Maintain the highest level of housekeeping in work area and other areas assigned
- Performs special projects as requested and/or assigned
- Participate in Safety reviews

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of chemical plant or other industrial plant experience
- Must have acceptable communications and computer skills
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to operate a sit-down fork truck, stand up reach truck and the switch tractor
- Must possess the ability to learn and perform outlined duties.
- Must have a good general knowledge of standard practices and safety rules of a chemical plant
- Operators must be able to work in a team environment

Preferred:
- A two-year associate degree in a related technical area or equivalent applicable industrial experience is preferred
- Mechanical experience is a plus

BASF recognizes institutions of higher education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
