Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position is responsible for providing instrument and electrical engineering expertise to an assigned area of the site. The incumbent will assure proper design, installation, and repair of instruments and electrical equipment according to regulatory and BASF standards. The successful candidate will provide expertise to support maintenance, operations, and capital project activities. Additionally, this position ensures a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools. The scope is process control systems, including DCS and PLC systems, instrumentation, and electrical less than 600 volts.

Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer (1702530) - Zachary, LA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment repair/reliability, including emergency work reviews.
- Lend technical support to Maintenance Supervisor, specialist, and craftsmen on challenging repair activities.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
- Initiate and/or modify predictive and preventive maintenance programs as necessary.
- Define and ensure strategic spare parts are managed and maintained.
- Support project design, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Assist in recommending training and development options for in-house maintenance resources.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering required.
- A minimum of 6 years engineering degree experience in instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment.
- Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of instrument and electrical systems, equipment, and software.
- Solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
- Control systems experience.
- Experience with Emerson Delta V DCS a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures, as well as capability of influencing, persuading, and negotiating.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance to instrument technicians and electricians.
