Job Description

This position is a key element of a complete multidisciplinary Cancer Program. Under the general direction of the Director of Cancer Care/Women's Health, the Navigator manages patient information for the facilitation of services of patients diagnosed with cancer.. Exhibits knowledge of the medical, social and financial considerations as related to the Cancer program. Performs duties that ensure adequate coordination of individualized care and follow-up utilization all resources available. The Oncology Navigator identifies and develops requisite educational programs and support mechanisms to establish Cancer as a specialty at Bethesda Health. The Oncology Navigator will work both internally and in the community to increase awareness of concerns, problems and service needs for patients of all ages and stages of development. The Oncology Navigator works with other resources within the Healthcare System to develop and coordinate programs which meet the physical, psychosocial, and educational needs across the service line. Serves as a resource for physicians and staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BSN or MS degree in Nursing or Social Work with 2 years of clinical experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Florida RN and/or Licensed Social Worker or Social Worker Intern. If Social Worker Intern, must obtain a Florida Social Worker License within one year.

Skills Required:

Effective communication skills. Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with physicians, patients, families and diverse health care providers. Marketing skills to promote Cancer Program to medical staff and community. Ability to create ad-hoc reports, spreadsheets and trend reports. Strong public speaking capabilities
