Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

With over 20 years of operating experience in the rapidly growing senior living industry, luxury brand Balfour plans to expand its offerings with award winning developments in other markets. Having earned widespread national and international recognition for its boutique properties, Balfour Interiors, LLC, a division of Balfour Senior Living, intends to selectively add team members to during this growth phase. Balfours design partners include some of the nation's leading architects and interior designers as well as our in-house interiors group. The Interior Design Intern will help our team to develop a unique brand in the marketplace and make each project different.

Anticipated duration is summer 2019, with future possibility for consideration for a longer-term role pending business necessity and employee performance. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist in the design and documentation of interior spaces to include drawing of furniture plans, selection of finishes, elevations, room and room finishes and ordering sample materials from vendors.
* Participate in the development of Interior Design solutions in collaboration with the design team through all project phases; programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration.
* Provide assistance in the selection or consideration and choice of building materials such as lighting, furniture, fabric, etc.
* Assist in presentation boards and preparing renderings.
* Assist in coordination of specifications and purchase orders with vendors and consultants.
* Become familiar with current and upcoming projects and keep the design library updated.
* Demonstrate consideration to project time, cost and quality constraints.
* Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:

* Must be working toward or have obtained a bachelors or masters degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or other related field
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite®
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Excellent customer relations skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment
* Strong organizational and design skills; creative problem solving ability
* Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written form

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:

* General understanding of building codes
* Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCad, SketchUp, Photoshop, Adobe Suite
* Previous work or intern experience in interior design or hospitality (1-3 years)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Ability to sit and walk for prolonged periods
* Able to occasionally work beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as necessary
* Occasional travel between the Balfour communities in state and out of state
