Job Description

This is a summer Safety Internship position supporting the Safety and Health Department at BAE Systems Ship Repair located in Norfolk, VA. This intern will work full-time during the summer, reporting to the Manager of Safety and Health. This position has the potential to turn into a part-time opportunity during the academic year and/or full-time after graduation.

This intern will be responsible for the following:

* Maintains safety, health, & environmental related documentation (reports, logs, records, safety analysis, and site-specific risk mitigation plans).
* Develop and deliver reports in a timely and accurate manner.
* Ensures documentation is organized and uploaded to the safety drive
* Inspects facilities, machinery, and equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and health regulation compliance.
* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation/regulations
* Ability to work independently when required. Willing to learn and grow within the Safety and Health field
* Other duties as assigned
