Job Description

Part of a team responsible for the process flow and production of technical content in electronic and print format. Perform a variety of project coordination tasks which includes communicating with external clients (outside editors and authors), proofreading and editing print and digital content, image editing, and tracking the progress of products assigned. Work on a variety of products including technical journals and books, handbooks, conference proceedings, database products, datasheets, magazines, and webinars. This position plays a critical role in a high-volume environment to ensure that deadlines are met, volume targets are achieved, and publication quality remains high.

Essential Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Digital asset management which includes archiving of content, tracking, and reporting

  • Communication with content providers which includes outside authors and editors and keeping production schedules on track

  • Proofreading and copyediting a wide variety of technical material

  • Editing images (scaling, cropping, resizing) for use in both web and print applications

Schedules

  • Maintain detailed tracking logs for individual electronic and print projects and ensure that publication dates are met.

Communication

  • Coordinate production workflows with other departments for smooth project transitions

  • Work with content providers (authors, editors, reviewers) worldwide and provide timely answers to queries

Quality Assurance

  • Review quality of content provided to be sure specifications for each product are met according to ASM's style guide and transmittal instructions

Archive

  • File management of electronic and print content which include PDFs, copyright transfer forms, Library of Congress copyright registration, and print product materials.

Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

  • Able to work collaboratively across departments and with outside resources as needed

  • Strong communications skills and desire to work on cross-Matrix teams to improve efficiencies and quality of products and services provided by ASM

  • Familiarity with a variety of software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Bridge, and Dreamweaver)

  • Keen attention to detail
