Moulder Operator

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. has a job opportunity for a Moulder Operator at our plant in Vicksburg, MS.  The Moulder Operator is responsible for the overall production of the molder in the Plank Department.  Make regular and accurate checks to ensure in-white product is being processed in accordance with written procedures and specification requirements.  This position reports to the Finish Line Production Supervisor.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and general safety rules.
  • Follow all lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Learn to operate and perform maintenance on molder.
  • Perform machine set-up and adjustment.
  • Successfully complete hour by hour boards and produce at targeted rates.
  • Verify machine is operating safely.
  • Perform profile change over in a timely manner.
  • Complete ½ hour checks on profile "specs" to verify molder is making a quality product.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and maintain an inventory for tooling.
  • Use comparator to verify profile every check.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and daily checks
  • Run highest quality possible on the profile machine.
  • Ensure proper cut is being made through daily audits and observations.
  • Be aware of performance and condition of all saw blades.
  • Use foresight and notes in troubleshooting to head off problems before they arise.
  • Keep belts, rollers, etc. on hand to minimize downtime.
  • Report to supervisor any parts, saw, etc that need replaced.
  • Keep saw log current, accurate, and legible.
  • If checks are completed and no adjustments are necessary, operators are to assist the rest of team, especially during staffing shortage.
  • Assure that necessary replacement parts are stocked in house.
  • Complete all preventive maintenance inspections: daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
  • Complete 5S daily.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Required Qualifications and Skills

Minimum qualifications include:

  • 3 months of experience in a related environment or equivalent training and/or education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively, function in a team-based environment, and perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must possess shift and schedule flexibility of regular time (any shift that may include  off-hours and/or weekends), and overtime, as needed
  • Ability to safely perform job duties
  • Must possess the ability to perform basic math and operate a calculator
  • Must agree to follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment; e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed.
