Plant Manager- Stillwater, OK

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) is seeking to fill a high profile Plant Manager role within our resilient flooring business unit at our Stillwater, OK facility.  The ideal candidate will be energetic, passionate, and results-oriented with a proven track record in driving safety, productivity, quality and service improvements.  We are looking for an experienced, credible leader with a history of leading plant performance to new levels and who has demonstrated the ability to build a talented and highly effective manufacturing leadership team. 

 

You will lead a 3-shift operation of roughly 120 salary production employees and 8 direct reports.  All plant administration and manufacturing departments fall within your scope of responsibilities including materials and distribution, manufacturing, quality, environmental health and safety, maintenance and engineering, finance, and human resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment. 
  • Actively engaging the entire workforce in your Lean transformation journey.
  • Leading the plant to meet or exceed production goals, including throughput, yield, cost, and quality.    
  • Managing the plant against the established operational and capital budgets, ensuring financial goals are met or exceeded.  
  • Directing maintenance/engineering to optimize the equipment performance, quality, customer satisfaction, and reliability.
  • Overseeing all hiring, employee relations, and employee development activities, ensuring an effective and productive workforce. 
  • Develop a highly capable leadership team through ongoing coaching, development opportunities and accountability.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.     
  • 8 - 10 years plant leadership experience in a multi-shift environment, with at least 5 years in a plant manager role.
  • Manufacturing lean transformation experience required.
  • Experience managing within a non-union environment required.
  • Strong technical aptitude with demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Working knowledge of safety, environmental practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance.
  • Past experience leading a diverse group of functions, including operations/production, engineering, materials and distribution, maintenance/reliability, quality, human resources, environmental health and safety, and finance. 
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage a diverse group of employees and build a team culture. 
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of P&L, EBITDA, and other key financial measures.
  • Experience managing operating costs and capital and maintenance budgets. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels within the organization.

 

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification desirable.

About the Location (Stillwater, OK)

 

Our Stillwater Plant employs approximately 150 people and operates 24 hours a day, up to 7 days a week. Production teams work a 12 hour rotating shift. The plant manufactures and ships vinyl sheet flooring products.
