About the role
Working side by side with leading technology companies across the globe, the CPU group specifies, designs, and validates all of ARM's next generation microprocessors. As a CPU Performance Engineer, you will be part of a small and talented Chandler-based CPU Architecture Performance team design team where you can make a significant contribution. The performance team is responsible for next generation ARM Cortex-A class CPU microarchitecture, design, and performance analysis. You will contribute to one of more of the following areas of CPU development including: performance modeling, verification, analysis, and workload automation.

What will I be accountable for?
Modeling the architecture and microarchitecture features of the next generation CPUs Analyzing the performance impact of various features and making design suggestions Correlating performance models with the RTL design Creation or enhancement of ancillary performance tools Potential involvement in workload generation, characterization, and automation

Job Requirements
What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?
Education
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with a 3.5+ GPA Technical Attributes
Ideal applicants would have experience or exposure in the following areas:
CPU microarchitecture knowledge (out-of-order execution, register renaming, reservation stations, processor pipelines, etc.) High level understanding of microarchitecture at the system and SoC levels Good software engineering skills including understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms Familiarity with Verilog HDL Unix/Linux/Windows working experience Experience with source control systems (e.g. GIT and SVN) Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Tcl, Python Assembly language for ARM or other architectures General Attributes
Good analytical skills along with the ability to "think out of the box" Ability to cooperate and communicate well within an engineering team Ability to effectively work alone as well as in a team Demonstrate enthusiasm, drive and diligence Excellent written and verbal communication skills Be motivated to continuously develop skills and accept a variety of responsibilities as part of contributing to the design center's success
