  Organic Peroxides Business Manager, Crosslinking & Composites

The role reports to the Business Director for Organic Peroxides, Americas
The role has one direct report Business Development Manager, Crosslinking / Composites / Solid Surface


Job dimensions
P/L responsibility for the US and CN Organic Peroxides Crosslinking business as well as sales and margin responsibility for the Composites, Solid Surface and Oil and Gas segments. The role requires managing independently a P/L while at the same time developing and leading the execution of strategic business plans and market development activities.  This includes P&L management, customer and product portfolio management, contract strategy, market development, new product development leadership, strategic positioning, interfacing with customer service, R&D, Purchasing, Manufacturing, HSE and Supply Chain.  The individual will have a strong business acumen, and be proficient in the business unit’s value proposition and in matching it to customers’ needs.  This position is based in King of Prussia, PA and reports directly to the Business Director, Americas.


•P/L Responsibility for Crosslinking Business and margin responsibility for Composites, Solid Surface & Oil/Gas
•Develops and executes strategic business plans by market segment to drive growth and profitability for Organic Peroxides into the Crosslinking & Composites markets including US based business and new business targets.
•Leads multi-disciplinary business teams to execute the business strategy including new business development, cost saving initiatives, supply chain optimization, manufacturing excellence and sales & marketing.
•Collaborates with R&D and HSE to identify regulatory issues affecting the XL and composites businesses and develops the strategy and/or response to best position the business.
•Establishes pricing guidelines and boundaries for Sales.
•Supports the negotiation of sales contracts in conjunction with the Sales Manager, and owns the overall strategic direction of the process.
•Supervises the Business Development Manager on competitive/market intelligence gathering and new business development activities based on market input and voice of the customer.
•Owns the development and commercialization of new products/applications for Organic Peroxides in the applicable market segments to ensure profitable growth.
•Develops appropriate strategies to address competitive threats identified by the sales team.
•Reviews and modifies as necessary the monthly demand and margin forecast for the crosslinking, composites, solid surface and oil & gas businesses which is developed by the sales team and finance group
•Maintains inventory of price supports with distributors, and verifies accuracy.

•Travel will be up to 30% of the time.


The individual in this position is accountable to the P/L into the crosslinking area, and composites, oil & gas market segments.   Key accountabilities include:
 •Preparing and updating market segment strategies
•Achieving  budgeted financial targets for the P/L and market segments
•Leading new product development from idea generation to commercialization
•Driving costs initiatives in all functions to address variable and structural costs that impact the P/L
•Supervise activities of direct and indirect reports as necessary, and implement succession planning at key functions.
•Providing monthly margin forecast for financial reporting purposes
•Preparing annual budget: volume and margin
•Developing channel to market strategies
•Leading distribution strategy for current channel partners and potential new distributors as well.
•Maintaining, verifying and accurately accruing for monthly price supports with multiple distributors

Qualifications / experience required
•Bachelor’s Degree in business or science required with an understand of the technical, financial and economic aspects of the job.  MBA is desirable
•8+ year experience in a commercial role with proven success in leading a P/L.
•Experience in Organic Peroxides and/or the unsaturated polyester, elastomer or polyolefin compounding industry a plus
•Experience in new product development & commercialization
•Proven ability to innovate and improve upon existing business practice
•Strong leadership, communications and management skills
•Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
•Ability to understand customer needs and desires within the context of Arkema’s goals
•Excellent time management and organization skills
•Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation skills, negotiating skills.
•Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and a good understanding of SAP.
•Self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team environment.
•Able to travel approximately 30%.
