  1. Financial data: RPE in excess of $8,000,000
  2. Production Data: All North American production of 141b, 142, 32, 134a, VF2, Kynar & Refrigerant Blends or coproduced HCl
  3. People Data: May supervise or participate in training of hourly operators during absence of Production Supervisors or during engineering activities in a process area.
  4. Statistical Data: Identifies opportunities for improvement and completes resulting projects. Specify and develop process technology in support of new plant design, plant improvements, etc.  Work independently in evaluation, selection, and application of engineering practices to project requirements, including highly complex technologies.
  5. Communications:  The process work performed has significant interaction across plant & corporate groups as required to set priorities, communicate results and achieve goals.
Activities

Analyzing processes such as distillation, heat transfer, reactor design, thermodynamics, etc and applying these analyses to plant design for new or improved facilities, optimization of existing operations and to troubleshoot existing processes.  Report findings and recommend remediation or improvements that incorporate safety and environmental compliance or improvement as well as reduced manufacturing cost.  Implementation of change through teamwork.

 

Context and environment

Jobholder must work closely with hourly and salaried personnel supporting plant goals in all areas of the Calvert City facility.  Will work as a team member, for example: with project engineers as a team member to implement projects with accounting to develop financial analysis, with maintenance and operations to implement change or to evaluate existing systems, with Environmental to develop permits and with safety to evaluate cause and effect.  Communications and interpersonal skills are key. Must have a very good technical knowledge of the processes and possess good troubleshooting skills. Close process monitoring is necessary to meet operating and regulatory requirements. Must identify opportunities for improvement. The incumbent must comply with the applicable regulatory requirements of OSHA 29CFR and EPA 40CFR.

Accountabilities

Provide leadership, training, monitoring and communications to continuously improve safety, environmental and operational performance.

Show originality and innovation by identifying and developing solutions that contribute to reduced manufacturing costs through improved asset utilization, raw material and energy utilization as well as waste minimization.

Meet all government regulations and ensure Corporate and Business Group policies and procedures are completely followed.

Insure proper coordination with Project Engineering and other plant departments.

 

Qualifications / experience required

Recognized as a deep and broad resource in the principles and theories of chemical engineering as demonstrated by a history of technical accomplishments and contributions.  A degree in chemical engineering is required.   Breadth and depth of knowledge of the laws and rules governing the design and implementation of solutions regarding chemical processes.  These include federal laws regarding environmental compliance issues (EPA), process hazards techniques (OSHA), and engineering standards.
