ASU and College Success Arizona are seeking a dynamic, creative, results-driven communicator to launch and manage communications for Project Benjamin, a new, award-winning state-wide post-secondary education initiative.

What is Project Benjamin?

Project Benjamin aims at increasing the number of college-bound Arizona high school students who successfully complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, more commonly known as FAFSA. Through Project Benjamin it is expected that more students across the state will gain access to federal student aid, which will make college more affordable for families and, subsequently, raise family income for those filing and receiving federal financial aid.

What does the job entail?

The Project Benjamin Communications Coordinator is responsible for designing, executing, monitoring and measuring text-based marketing campaigns to current high school students across the state of Arizona. To be successful, the campaigns need to be conversational, informative, accessible and creative.

The Project Benjamin Communications Coordinator will first learn a technology platform that allows students to directly text with a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Direct experience with this type of technology is not required, but experience working in a contact management system is preferred. The Project Benjamin Communications Coordinator will learn chatbot software under the guidance of a team of university communicators with direct experience working with this technology.

Once this technical skill is learned (expected within the first 30 days of hire), the successful candidate will be responsible for designing content, organizing campaigns on a content calendar, deploying text-based campaigns (including managing and responding to 1-on-1 to chats needing follow-up) and monitoring and reporting the success of the communications.

Additionally, as students interact with the text conversations, the Coordinator will need to tactfully and accurately respond back to students with answers not yet in the AI chatbot knowledge base and triage and prioritize responses that need human-to-human follow up.

A natural networker and team builder, the Coordinator will work collaboratively with any or all of the following stakeholders:

* College Success Arizona Staff
* Communicators and financial aid experts at Arizona's post-secondary institutions
* A contract-based marketing team
* Customer support staff at the partnering technology company
* Students, counselors and teachers at Arizona high schools

Knowledge of the FAFSA process, including FAFSA verification from personal or professional experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Salesforce. The ideal candidate will possess (with demonstrated experience) a genuine belief in the role that higher education plays in helping individual live an empowered, meaningful life.

This is a grant-funded position that reports to the ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, while following programmatic guidance consistent with the initiative as led by CSA.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Seven (7) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
