CTR (a joint venture of CH2M HILL, Teng & Assoc. (exp U.S. Services), and Rise Engineering (ARCADIS U.S.)) provides program management services to the Chicago Dept. of Water Management (CDWM). As part of the CTR program team, supporting the CDWM Capital Improvement Program, this position will report to the CTR Force Account Manager. The primary responsibility of the position is to review proposed construction plans from other agencies, utilities, developers, etc., for impacts to the City of Chicago's water facilities. All conflicts between the proposed construction and existing water facilities have to be resolved prior to issuing permit approval. In some cases, water facility adjustments must be designed and executed. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are necessary since a significant portion of the position involves formal letter writing, emailing, meetings, and phone conversations with other staff members, other City agencies, and outside design professionals. The position is deadline driven and requires a high degree of organization to review multiple projects in a short period of time. The daily responsibilities of a Force Account Engineer include the following tasks:

* Respond to "Existing Facility Protection Requests" issued by the City of Chicago Office of Underground Coordination
* Examine/review proposed plans for impacts to DWM facilities
* Design and produce plans, as well as the necessary paperwork, to temporarily/permanently remove/relocate impacted water facilities
* Address DWM - Bureau of Engineering Services requests for information on existing facilities and on projects by other agencies
* Design and produce plans and the necessary paperwork for new water service connections
* Assist with project status tracking in Excel database
* Coordinate with the CTR Water Main Design and Construction teams

Required Qualifications

* B.S. Civil Engineering (E.I.T./P.E. preferred) or Construction Management
* Detail-oriented
* Ability to organize work and maintain a high level of productivity
* Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
* Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
* Excellent multi-tasking skills

* Preferred two years of experience in land development design or construction inspection
* Working knowledge of ArcGIS®
* Engineering experience with utility infrastructure work
* Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including MSWord, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
