Job Description

The Southwest Division (SWD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking to fill a position for a Junior Software Engineer to conduct systems engineering (SE), modeling and simulation (M&S), and analysis in the advancement of scientific and technical information on-site for U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. Our software engineers support major research and development (R&D) by maintaining existing enterprise applications and developing new technologies related to the field.

Responsibilities:

* Designing, coding, and debugging applications in C++.
* Performing software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, and software review.
* Performing object-oriented design and analysis (OOA and OOD).
* Front end graphical user interface design.
* Software testing and quality assurance.
* Supporting, maintaining, and documenting software functionality.
* Software support/bug fixes.

The candidate is expected to develop new codes by working alongside modelers and scientists as well as modify existing and prototypical modeling and simulation software tools. Software projects can range in size, from simple calculators to large, integrated systems.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for obtaining a DoD Security Clearance.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related field
* Computer programming and software development experience
* Demonstrated proficiency programming in C++
* Independent and self-motivated
* Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills
* Ability to work with little supervision, including setting and achieving interim milestones that support higher task objectives
* Eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with the following specific topics are considered strong pluses
* Experience with software configuration management
* Experience with high level software architecture design
* Active DoD security clearance
