Job Description

We are looking for candidates with teaching certificates in Alabama for Long Term Substitute Teaching assignments that become available throughout the school year. This particular job posting is not for a specific assignment available now. Instead, it is to collect qualified candidates who can be interviewed and processed in advance of receiving these assignments as they are often needed very quickly. As Jefferson County covers a broad territory, please note the list of schools that this particular posting covers.

Position schedule will be based on the school's standard schedule. While some districts may offer opportunities outside of the regular school schedule, these are not guaranteed and opportunities will be limited.

Please note that, due to state regulations, every substitute and regular employee must have a cleared background check through the Alabama State Department of Education as well as a valid and current teaching certificate. If you are certified out of state, you can apply for certificate reciprocity with the Alabama State Department of Education. To find more information about certificate reciprocity (and to see if you qualify), please visit http://www.alsde.edu/
