Vacancy Announcement Appalachia HIDTA LOCATION LONDON KENTUCKY POSITION DEPUTY DIRECTOR SALARY NEGOTIABLE CLOSING DATE July 6 2011 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas HIDTA are regions designated by the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy ONDCP that have critical drug trafficking problems that adversely impact the United States The HIDTA program provides assistance to federal state and agencies in accordance with the goals and objectives contained in the President s National Drug Control Strategy The mission of the HIDTA program is to enhance and facilitate the coordination of America s drug control efforts among federal state and local law enforcement agencies in order to eliminate or reduce drug trafficking The Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area AHIDTA was designed in 1998 and includes initiatives in the states of Kentucky Tennessee and West Virginia POSITION SUMMARY The Deputy Director works under the general supervision of the AHIDTA Director The position directly supports the Director in performing duties of administration and management of the program The incumbent exercises direct supervision of administrative elements of the program as designated by the Director The Deputy Director actively participates in the submission process of required reports initiatives and budgets to the National HIDTA Program Office The Deputy Director is a key component of the AHIDTA s internal review process which requires him or her to regularly travel throughout Kentucky and the three state area He she may be called upon from time to time to represent the Director and or the Executive Board at meetings and functions As a member of the Management and Coordination Initiative the position is service oriented toward assisting members of the Executive Board participating agency heads initiative supervisors and participants to successfully meet program goals and objectives For a full listing of DUTIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and where to submit an APPLICATION please visit the National HIDTA Assistance Web site at http http www nhac org www nhac org A and click on Employment Opportunities EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
