Associate Buyer

Position Profile:

The Long Island office of Anixter, is seeking an analytical,results-driven, entry-level candidate for an Associate Buyer position. This position is responsible for daily replenishment of their assigned vendorlines to best service our customers at our 60+ locations. You would beresponsible for managing a multi-million dollar inventory portfolio while beingaccountable for providing great customer service and meeting inventory turngoals.

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Purchasematerial into over 50 locations across North America, using past sales data,customer forecasts, and supplier lead times to maintain inventory atappropriate levels
* Analyze salestrends and customer forecasts to determine where and how much inventory be ineach region
* Work withsuppliers to expedite open purchase orders for critical items
* Reduce theamount of excess & obsolete inventory by utilizing vendor return programsand stock balancing
* Coordinateinventory deliveries with our sales team to make sure we meet or exceedcustomer expectations
* Monitor keyperformance metrics including inventory turns, service levels, and supplierlead times
* Collaboratewith sales, accounts payable, operations, marketing, finance and projectmanagement to solve issues and improve customer service
* Develop andmaintain relationships with suppliers


* Associates orBachelor's degree; coursework in Supply Chain, Operations, Mathematics or Economics a plus
* Proficient inMicrosoft Office suite
* Detailoriented and analytical
* 0-3 years ofpurchasing experience
* Excellentcommunication, customer service and organization skills
