Animal Care Technician I

Animal Services and Shelter Eagle, Colorado. Part-time, Year-Round 20 hours per week. Friday, Monday 8am-1pm $16.61-$20.76/hour. Responsible for daily maintenance/sanitizing of animal holding areas, daily care/feeding of animals, assists customers in viewing, visiting & choosing a compatible animal, exercise/socializes animals.


Responsible for daily maintenance and sanitizing of all animal holding areas and the daily care and feeding of impounded animals.  Responsible for mitigating the spread of illness and disease by following best practice and industry standards in shelter care. Responsible for assisting the customers in viewing, visiting and choosing a compatible animal.  Responsible for exercising and socializing animals.

This position is scheduled 20 hours per week. 

In general, the schedule is Friday-Monday - 8am to 1pm. 

Example of Duties

  • Performs daily kennel duties, cleaning all necessary areas of animal holding kennels.  Maintains shelter grounds by cleaning when necessary several times weekly.  Feeds and provides any other necessary care for all shelter animals.
  • Assists the customers in viewing and selecting pets.
  • Responsible for exercising and providing stimulation for the dogs when weather permits.
  • Assist with answering phones and  responding to public inquiries.


Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:
  • One year of experience in animal services, enforcement, or veterinary technology; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
