In addition, AESC offers an in-house laboratory with blood chemistry, blood gas and electrolytes, lactate, and coagulation testing.

The AESC Team: We are a vibrant team of a one medical oncologist, one residency-trained medical oncologist, a criticalist who is double-boarded in anesthesiology, two surgeons, a dermatologist, an avian and exotics specialist, and a residency-trained critical care doctor who work hand-in-hand with seven emergency doctors, one of whom also practices acupuncture and a highly-trained and dedicated support staff.

AESC is situated just outside downtown Knoxville, an hour's drive from the Smoky Mountains and minutes from the numerous lakes in the area. Tennessee offers a multitude of outdoor activities including skiing and snowboarding, kayaking and white water rafting, fishing, and countless hiking and biking trails, many scattered through nearby Smoky Mountain National Park. With no state income tax and a low cost of living, the quality of life is something to rave about.

What We Offer: We offer excellent mentorship and training to prepare you for a career in Emergency Medicine or for a future residency program. As a successful emergency medicine and surgery intern, you will be able to thoroughly work up, diagnose, and treat difficult and complicated emergency and critical care cases.
