POSITION: Part-Time Clinical Instructor for Respiratory Care Program - Lufkin

EMPLOYMENT DATE: Immediate Need

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associates degree in respiratory care required;
* Current licensure to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (TDHS and CoArc) in the State of Texas required;
* Active employment in respiratory for the past two (2) years or advanced preparation in education and/or administration required;
* Two (2) years varied experiences since graduation, and evidence of teaching abilities such as working with students or new employees and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility required;
* Knowledge and competence in respiratory care, communication, leadership skills and the ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of learners required;
* Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms and interpret the role of the respiratory therapist in society and present health care issues and trends required;
* Ability to work with a web based learning management system and on-line testing required;
* Must possess the ability to interact with a diverse student population;
* Experience in health care education preferred;
* Membership and participation in professional organizations desirable;
* Skills and ability to use current technology preferred; and
* Travel is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

* Under the direction of the Program Director of Respiratory Care Program and Clinical Director of Respiratory Care, the Part-Time Clinical Instructor for Respiratory Care Program will perform the following duties:
* Participate in the planning, implementing and evaluation of course content and learning activities of the program of learning;
* Participate in the development, implementation and enforcement of standards/policies and procedures for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students, and participation in academic guidance and counseling;
* Provide an atmosphere conducive to learning in the classroom, laboratory and clinical area;
* Serve as a liaison between learners and affiliate agency personnel and provides students direction for utilizing educational resources;
* Responsible for supervising students in clinical learning and skills environment, including all initial respiratory care procedures performed by the student in the clinical area and ascertaining that the student is competent before allowing the student to perform an actual nursing procedure independently;
* Conduct pre and post conferences in the clinical setting;
* Participate in the selection of textbooks, instructional aids, and other educational equipment/resources;
* Proctor course skills and competencies and review with teaching team;
* Post and maintain office hours as required by the college faculty guidelines;
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and performance and records/reports to the office of records according to the college schedule;
* Attend and participate in faculty, committee and program/college meetings;
* Participate in academic advising and counseling of students within area of responsibility;
* Maintain CEU credits on an annual basis and professional growth and development required by the accrediting bodies and the college;
* Maintain professional competence, serves as an ambassador for the college and is committed to the mission and vision of the college; and
* Perform other college-related duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Angelina College Policies and Procedures Manual.

SALARY:

Salary is competitive, based on the Angelina College Salary Schedule. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check. Proof of identify and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
