Job Description

IONX, LLC, an Amsted Rail Company, is a leading provider of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) systems for supply chain visibility and condition monitoring applications. Our railroad, chemical, and mining customers use our solutions to monitor remote unpowered assets operating in harsh or hazardous environments.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Hardware Electrical Engineer who displays an interest in making significant contributions to new and ongoing strategic projects. We provide full end-to-end solutions and services to our customers, and create and manage the entire platform starting with the device hardware in the field through to the user experience on a computer or tablet screen. Configuration and logic is pushed down to the sensor, so that events can be generated and decisions can be made across the entire system from rail-yard to office.

Desired Criteria & Qualifications

5+ years electrical hardware design experience with a track record of taking designs from concept through to production.

  • Analog and digital circuit design - core competency

  • Low power battery powered products

  • Harsh environment design

  • Primary and secondary power source and energy harvesting design

  • PCB Design

  • Experience with CAD, Altium, Intrinsic Safety design (UL913 or ATEX or IECEx), IoT /M2M device design

  • Experience with RF using IEEE 802.15.4 based mesh networks, Cellular modems, GPS modules, Antenna measurements, RF circuit design is a plus

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Must have great work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Enjoys working in a fast paced dynamic team and cross-functional organization, innovative mindset, passion for latest tools and technologies

  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferable, or closely related field

  • Preferred combination of industry technology certifications, such FCC, ATEX/IECEx, UL and CE, AAR

  • Manufacturing experience in PCB fabrication support, Work Instruction technical writing, BOM specification experience, Operation of technical equipment strongly preferred
