Job Description

Primary Job Function:

The maintenance supervisor oversees the maintenance staff in the repair and maintenance of machinery & equipment, building and grounds at the facility.  This includes preventive maintenance, staffing, and training to reduce machine downtime. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates awareness of safety requirements; insures compliance with the plant safety program and all Governmental agencies and or building codes.

  • Manage installation of plant capital and repair projects as directed.

  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and mechanical systems on all types of equipment in the facility.

  • Institute and track cost saving initiatives by their department.

  • Manage a preventive maintenance program to include recommendations for capital improvement projects for replacement.

  • Manage overtime, scheduling and vacation tracking of assigned employees.

  • Mange employee development of all assigned Union employees.

  • Supervision of outside contractors used by the facility.

  • Facility maintenance to include, buildings, water, sewer, HVAC and building utilities.

  • Assist with automation projects that are initiated by manufacturing engineer.

  • Provide feedback to Plant Superintendent on status of equipment with regard to downtime for planning.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5 - 10 years relevant work experience, including mechanical/electronic repair.

  • 3 - 5 years supervisory experience.

  • Project planning, including machine installation & automation projects.

  • Background in management of preventive maintenance programs, including new technologies.

  • Strong electrical/ electronic background & troubleshooting ability.

  • Advance knowledge of blueprints and electrical diagrams.

  • Familiarity with OSHA and workplace safety programs.

  • Experience with PLC systems.
