Job Description

Overview

The Finance intern position will be responsible for a wide range of activities relating to managing of AMERISAFE's $1.2 billion investment portfolios including report analysis and preparation, trade entry and reconciliation, and financial and credit analysis of potential fixed-income investments. Position will be involved in gathering, analyzing and communicating investment information involved in security valuation and trading, across municipal, corporate, mortgage, treasury, agency and equity markets. This is a part time, non-exempt position for students who are pursuing a degree in a finance, economics, accounting or business related field. This is an opportunity to gain valuable institutional money management experience as well as receive an introduction to AMERISAFE, a $1.2 billion market-capitalization publicly-traded workers' compensation company based in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Responsibilities

* Report analysis and preparation.
* Trade entry and reconciliation.
* Financial and credit analysis of potential fixed-income investments.
* Gathering, analyzing and communicating investment information to other analysts and management.
* Learning about key economic data, trading securities, and portfolio management.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Currently enrolled in college program to obtain a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or business related field.
* Working knowledge of applicable personal computing technologies, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and MS Outlook email. Bloomberg experience is a plus.
* High degree of interest in the securities markets, economic metrics and the impact of demographic, financial, and fiscal and monetary policy on the economy.
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
* Excellent communications skills-written and verbal. Must communicate with co-workers and Management in a courteous and professional manner.
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet financial reporting and other project deadlines.
* Highly organized style, with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
* Proven ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented environment.
* Must be detail oriented.
* Willingness to pursue further study toward the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
