Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Public Affairs Intern supports numerous aspects of the Public Affairs department's day-to-day operations. The Intern supports the department's senior management and produces deliverables integral to the department's functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Attend weekly team meetings.
* Attend New England Council and other events with department team members and draft summaries of events.
* Provide support for ongoing projects in the U.S. and potentially those in other American Tower markets.
* Assist with coordinating a large Public Affairs team meeting scheduled for July 2019.
* Prepare legislative summaries of active bills in U.S. Congress.
* Research members of the U.S. Congress as well as state and local government officials.
* Provide general clerical support.
* Conduct research and prepare memoranda and/or reports for internal use.

OTHER:

* Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* None.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Quality proofreading skills.
* Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
* Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable timelines and follow up on internal and external customer needs.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
* Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast paced environment.
* Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to requests and with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Pursuing a high school diploma.

ENVIRONMENT:

Approximately 100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 5% travel may be required in support of the position's responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this internship, the Intern is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this internship, the Intern frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
