Job Description

  • The Role of SOA Middleware Engineer - Operations provides support to AAG-IT teams in the effective operation of the Enterprise Service Bus.
  • This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Assist Project Teams and departmental SOA Architects and Governance Leads in the use of the Design and Runtime Governance Suite.
    • Assist in Implementation, Monitoring, Support, and Performance of the Enterprise Service Bus including the core service bus consisting of DataPower and Runtime Governance tooling applications (Monitoring, Registry, API Management, Service Security).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will assist in the administration, and operation of software and hardware systems used as part of the AAG SOA initiative.
  • This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ensure QoS and SLAs are met through the use of run time quotas and throttling
    • Monitor and Maintain Dashboards and Alerts configured within Support tools
    • Participate in 7x24x365 On-call Monitoring and Support tasks with other team members on a rotational basis
    • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks or system performance degradation.
    • Provide appropriate reporting and documentation to aid understanding of the overall SOA system and SOA Services performance, compile statistics, perform analytics on trends and capacities.
    • Work closely with server administration, networking, developers, QA, release management, Enterprise Architecture, and other SOA team members in the Operations and Monitoring of the SOA tools environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS/Engineering/Technology or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a large IT organization
  • 3-5 years experience implementing and supporting services hosted on an Enterprise Service Bus
  • 3-5 years experience developing and deploying flows for Message Broker/IIB
  • Demonstrated experience in Security enforcement protocols such as OAuth, PKI, SAML, etc., preferred
  • 3-5 years experience with Java Script and eSQL
  • 3-5 years experience with Java and/or Unix scripting languages
  • 3+ years of Operations experience in Unix, Linux, and JVMs
  • Strong knowledge of web service technologies from a developer and administration perspective
  • DataPower experience a plus
  • Airline experience a plus
  • Minimum travel required, 10% domestic
